General Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission of postbaccalaureate and graduate students to the California State University, San Bernardino are determined by the Board of Trustees of the California State University and are stated in Title 5, Chapter 1, Subchapter 3 of the California Code of Regulations.

Specifically, a student admitted with unclassified postbaccalaureate standing must: (1) have completed a four-year college course of study at an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association or have completed equivalent academic preparation, (2) have attained a grade-point average of at least 2.5 in the last 90 quarter (60 semester units) units attempted, and (3) have been in good standing at the last college attended and (4) satisfactorily met the professional, personal, scholastic, and other standards for graduate study, including qualifying examinations, as appropriate campus authorities may prescribe.

Applicants who do not qualify for admission under the provisions cited above may be admitted by special action if, on the basis of acceptable evidence, they are judged to possess sufficient academic, professional and other potential to merit such action. Petitions for admissions by special actions should be directed to the graduate coordinator of the appropriate master's program or if there is no specific graduate degree in mind, to the Dean of Graduate Studies.
