How to Apply

The Office of Graduate Studies processes applications for CSUSB's credential, master's and doctorate programs, as well as certificate programs and second bachelor's degrees. Applicants should apply online at Cal State Apply; please note that individual programs and departments may require a separate application or additional materials. Please see our list of graduate programs and contact the appropriate office for more information on its admissions requirements.

After your application has been processed, you will receive a letter from the university with important information about your student email account and ID number. Please activate your email as soon as you receive your letter; notification of missing transcripts, residency information, or other materials needed to complete your application will be sent to you via your student email.

Once we receive your application, fee, and transcripts, we will evaluate your GPA. Your application will then be sent to the program office for an admission/denial decision. We will notify you via your student email account as soon as we receive a decision from the program.

Note: Current students who are considering changing programs should contact Graduate Studies at (909) 537-5058 for advising. Instructions are given on a case by case basis.

 

Fall 2017 Application Process!new!

Those who wish to apply for Fall 2017 must complete a paper application. The deadline to submit the paper application for Fall 2017 is June 19th. Note that some programs have earlier application deadlines. For international students (F-1 and J-1 visa only), please click the International Admissions website for application information.

Paper Application Process

  1. Download and complete the fillable PDF application.
  2. Turn the completed application into the Office of Graduate Studies office via email at gradadmissions@csusb.edu.
  3. Once your application is received, an email will be sent that will contain your student ID number (Coyote ID) and instructions on how to create your MyCoyote student account.
  4. Pay the $55 application fee online through MyCoyote or at the Student Financial Services office (University Hall, room 035) at CSUSB.
  5. Provide the Office of Graduate Studies with a copy of the application fee receipt. If you paid online through MyCoyote, forward your email confirmation to gradadmissions@csusb.edu.  Include your name and student ID in the email.  If you paid in person at the Student Financial Services Office, bring a copy of the receipt to the Office of Graduate Studies, Chaparral Hall room 123.

 

Instructions for Application

  1. Contact the program/department office for their application requirements and deadlines.
  2. Apply online at Cal State Apply.
  3. Mail official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, and pay the application processing fee.
